Bilney Belts Barker

For today’s Throwback Thursday we’re taking a look back at the highest individual score in a one dayer in Association history.

This occurred way back on 31st January 1987 when Wistow took on Mt Barker at the since disused Dunn Park.

Club legend Lloyd “Bing” Bilney, one of the best allrounders in Association history, was a devastating opening bowler and hard hitter who would traditionally bat at 6 or 7.  However, on this occasion he was promoted to open the batting.  Given a life by “Stumpy” Billings on 0, Bing would make them pay dearly as he smashed 16 4s and 12 6s on his way to 200* in 40 overs as Wistow compiled a whopping 7/296.

In reply, Mt Barker were only able to muster 143 with Bing chipping in with 2/4 from 4 overs.
