WAYNE CUMMINS – 50 SENIOR MATCHES

Congratulations to Wayne Cummins who played his 50th senior match for the Echidnas yesterday in the A2’s dominant victory.

“Wayno” started his cricketing career at Nairne Cricket Club where he progressed through juniors before going on to play several seasons of senior cricket. He followed that up with a brief stint Macclesfield Redbacks Cricket Club for a season before retiring from cricket for almost 10 years.

Good mate Jordan Baltman spent years trying to recruit Wayne out to the Hill and eventually those efforts paid off as Wayno came out of retirement & made his Echidnas’ debut in the 2020/21 season and he has been a regular player ever since, mostly in the B’s & C’s before stepping up to be a regular in A2’s this season.

Identical twin brother “Other Wayne” Matthew Cummins followed Wayno out to the Hill later in the 2020/21 season and is on track to celebrate his 50th match milestone shortly after Christmas whilst Wayne’s son, Connor immediately took a liking to cricket from watching his Dad play and started out in U10’s a couple of seasons ago before progressing on to U12’s this season.

Wayne’s WCC career highlight is undoubtedly his maiden century when he made 105* from 95 balls in C’s against Woodside featuring 11 fours & 4 sixes, whilst arguably his best knock came a season later when he made 66 from 85 balls opening the batting in the C Grade SF at the Summit.

Well done Wayno!
