BRETT “BARREL” LYNN – 3,500 RUNS & 100 WICKETS

Congratulations to current Vice President, Under 16’s Coach and former longtime A Grade skipper, Brett “Barrel” Lynn, who came out of semi-retirement on Saturday and knocked off a couple of major WCC career milestones in the process.

Firstly, Barrel scored 79 to tick over to 3,504 runs for the club (3,262 of them having come in A Grade) at a very nice average of 27.59. As a result, Barrel jumped from 18th to 16th on the WCC all time runscorers list and he also sits 10th for best career batting average.

Secondly, he collected career wickets 99 and 100, with the 100th wicket occurring by way of a stumping – the wicketkeeper? None other than Barrel’s son, under 16’s young gun, Jaxon “Jacko” Lynn (who has been a fixture behind the stumps in C Grade all season, where Jacko is tied for the Association lead with five (5) catches whilst his four (4) stumpings are three (3) more than any other wicketkeeper). A truly special moment – how many players in the history of cricket can say their 100th wicket came courtesy of a stumping by their son???

Well done Baz!
