2. The original “Hill” playing field was a sheep paddock – no fences – it had a plough furrow for a boundary line. There was a noticeable crest of the hill, midway to the eastern boundary. There was also a real slope towards the Wistow Church and also a slope to the western wing (where the tanks are now). Fielders on one side of the oval could not see the play on the other side, just their heads moving as they chased the ball. This was to change with the levelling done in what year(s) and by whom?
