Congratulations to Holly Paech (daughter of WCC life member and recent past club president, Michael “Pickle” Paech) on her recent selection to the Fleurieu & Districts Under 16s side for the Country Carnival which was played in mid-December.
Unlike her Dad, Holly is primarily a bowler and currently plies her trade on Saturday mornings for our Under 14s side playing predominantly against boys. At the Christmas Break, she has taken 6 wickets at an outstanding average of 10.83 with an excellent economy rate of 3.09. Whilst not a prolific run scorer, she has also developed a dogged reputation for being one of the most difficult players in the entire competition to dismiss with the bat, facing at least 48 deliveries in 3 of her 5 innings so far this season.
On Sundays, Holly plays Women’s 2nd Grade in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association for the Eastern Falcons (which is played as a T20 competition). Despite having a number of their games canceled due to poor weather, so far this season she has taken 5 wickets at a tremendous average of 7.20 with an economy rate of precisely 3.
In the Country Carnival, Fleurieu & Districts unfortunately struggled with the bat, batting first and losing all 3 of their games as they were unable to post a competitive total but Holly’s bowling was again a bright spot as whilst she only picked up one wicket, she conceded just 2.62 runs per over. Well done Holly!
